 Changing Filter? Reply  Edit

I have a 2007 50ELPTO Merc that I run on a pontoon in a dirty lake. Is there a filter I need to change between the water intake and whre it goes through the motor?

I don't want to starve the motor of water......

Only the screen I believe, no filter.

THank you, A screen makes sense..

Do I need to remove the lower unit to get to the screen? I don't see anything when looking through the intake holes?

Is water coming out of the pee hole?

It is coming out but not as strong as it used to. Which is where my concern is coming from. I have poked the hole out with a pipe cleaner and it helped once or twice but it does not seam to help anymore. I want to check the intake just in case....

At my age I would say it has a prostate issue, but that is a different post

Maybe you need to change the water pump impeller.

No filter but I wouldn't be a bad idea to run the motor on the muffs every once in a while.
